Turnstile Turbines - Iberdrola - McCann Paris x Weber

A key player in renewable energies, our client Iberdrola wanted to raise public awareness around the challenges of energy transition.

The Paris Metro carries an average of 4 million passengers every day and almost 1.5 billion per year.

Our idea was to install human-sized turnstiles in the Miromesnil tube station, transforming it into a useful and beneficial display that generates green energy every time a passenger goes through. The energy generated by passengers powered two screens surrounding the turnstiles, which displayed awareness messages.

We did this in partnership with JUNIA, an engineering school that specializes in transitions. JUNIA students had to transform the turnstiles into a source of green energy and recreate the exact shape of the blades into a wind turbine using 3D printing to replace Iberdrola's turnstiles blades.

This campaign was awarded :
1 One Show Gold Pencil / Best of discipline / Grand Prix - (Ip & Design) - and four Merit awards
1 Silver Cannes Lions - (Tangible & Spatial Technology)
2 Bronze Cannes Lions - (Special Build and Affordable and Clean Energy)
 - and four shortlists.
